The 4th of July is quickly approaching and it’s time to get patriotic! We love the 4th of July not only for the fireworks, but for the food and fun that goes along with them.Luckily, in Placerville, we have numerous 4th of July events to choose from; here are some fun things to do and the best places to see fireworks around Placerville.
4th of July Family Blast
Load up the kids at head over to the annual 4th of July Family Blast at the El Dorado County Fairgrounds on July 4th. Bring your propane BBQs, footballs, other games, coolers (no outside alcohol, please) and your dancing shoes, but leave your pets, charcoal BBQs and glass containers at home.
Tons of activities for the kids, including hay mazes, contests and games, plus an inflatable bounce house and water slide with wristband ($7 each). If you don’t feel like grilling, food and drinks will be available for purchase. Gates open at 4pm, live music by Revelstoke from 6-10pm, and fireworks once it gets dark!
Tahoe South’s Lights on the Lake
If you’re looking for an unforgettable fireworks show, head up to South Lake Tahoe. The Lights on the Lake fireworks show has been rated one of the top five displays in the nation by The American Pyrotechnics Association.
The fireworks are visible from all over town, but the most spectacular view is from the lake. Grab a ticket and board either the Safari Rose (Tahoe Cruises) or the M.S. Dixie II, a Mississippi-style paddlewheeler and be prepared for lots of oohs and ahhhs. Oh, and if you’re on a boat, be sure to bring something warm. By the end of the evening, it can get chilly!
There’s lots of places to watch the fireworks from land as well; check out Nevada Beach, Timber Cove Marina, Edgewood-Tahoe or El Dorado Beach.
Fourth on the Field
The annual Fourth on the Field event takes place at Raley Field in West Sacramento, and includes spectacular fireworks, delicious food trucks, and rocking live music.
Kids will love the Down on the Farm playground, and if your sans kids for the evening, check out the Legacy Club where you’ll find foosball, ping pong, darts, and adult beverages.
Folsom Pro Rodeo
The Folsom Pro Rodeo is a 4th of July tradition and has been a local favorite for 57 years! This patriotic event offers family fun with non-stop rodeo action, outstanding nightly fireworks, mutton busting, an American flag which arrives by skydiver and much more.
