If you’re in the Denver area over the 4th of July, you’ll have lots of opportunities to see beautiful fireworks light up the night sky. 4th of July isn’t just about fireworks, though, it’s also about food, music and fun! Here’s the scoop on fantastic fireworks and other fun activities around Denver this 4th of July.
Fireworks
Aurora 4th of July Fireworks
Aurora’s 4th of July Spectacular takes place on the Aurora Municipal Center Great Lawn and features live music, delicious food and a fireworks display revered as one of the best in Colorado. Bring a blanket or low-rise lawn chair, and of course money & ID for tasty treats.
Avoid the traffic and take the Aurora R-Line which is now open! It will drop you off at the Aurora Metro Station which is walking distance to the event.
Independence Eve Fireworks
On the 3rd of July, take in a free patriotic concert, an innovative light, and a fantastic fireworks show finale at the annual Independence Eve Celebration in Civic Center Park. Lawn seating will be available on a first-come, first-served basis; arriving early is greatly encouraged, as are blankets or low-rise concert/beach chairs. Bring your own picnics or take the night off from cooking and check out the variety of food trucks that will be on-site.
Sporting Events (plus fireworks!)
4th Fest – Major league soccer
If you’re a soccer fan, the 22nd Annual 4th Fest celebration on July 4th at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park is a great way to spend the 4th of July. The pre-match festival, courtesy of the City of Commerce City, kicks off at 5PM on Burgundy Boulevard, and is open to the general public. It features interactive activities, obstacle courses, trampolines, entertainers, and loads of family fun to explore!. There will also be live music, and a post-game firework show that is the largest in the state.
The match kicks off at 7pm, where you’ll see Denver’s hometown heroes, the Colorado Rapids, take on the Seattle Sounders.
Major league baseball
Nothing says summer like a little baseball! The Colorado Rockies are hosting the Cincinnati Reds July 3rd through the 6th, so you have lots of opportunities to kick back and take in some great baseball. On both July 3rd and 4th, stick around for post-game fireworks!
Major league lacrosse
Professional lacrosse team the Denver Outlaws will battle it out with the Atlanta Blaze on July 4th. After the game, stay and enjoy fireworks within the bowl.
Cherry Creek Arts Festival
The Cherry Creek Arts Festival is an amazing, free extravaganza celebrating art of all kinds, especially visual, performing, and culinary arts; iIt takes place the weekend before the 4th, July 1-3, 2017.
Your kids will love Activity Avenue, a full block of interactive activities that includes painting an exciting community mural and an art playground full of diverse and creative art activities perfect for youngsters.
Don’t miss the the Cultural Pavilion, where music, dance and theater from around the globe will be presented. And when you get hungry, Culinary Avenue is the place to be. Along with unique food, you can check out live cooking demonstrations from some of Denver’s most popular eateries.
