May 25th, 2017 by Property Alliance

When you think about visiting a farm you probably think about seeing animals and maybe even feeding them. But, when you visit Keys Creek Lavender Farm in Northern San Diego County, it’s anything but your typical farm visit.

For starters, Keys Creek Lavender Farm is San Diego’s only USDA certified lavender farm.

On eight and a half acres of land you will find more than one dozen varieties of lavender. Besides farm tours, Keys Creek Lavender Farm is home to a variety of activities as well as the Provincial Cottage.

To get yourself familiar with the farm, start with one of The Bloom Season Tours. Held twice daily on weekends, you will learn about the different varieties of lavender and their uses. You will also make a stop at the distillery shop to see where the essential oils are made as well as view a demonstration. Be sure to get your ticket to reserve your spot because each tour only allows 30 people. Peak season for the lavender plants is May and June.

Once you have seen the centerpiece of the farm, take advantage of the various classes that are offered. Coming up in June, you can learn how to make your own soap using healthy ingredients.

After immersing yourself in the lavender fields and all that the farm has to offer, you may want to take a piece of it home with you.

But, if you’re not quite ready to go home just yet, consider a stay at the Provincial Cottage. Just 40 minutes from downtown San Diego, this is a getaway where you check all the noise and stress at the door. The cottage brings together the owner’s love of France and passion for lavender to create a relaxing oasis. The cottage overlooks the rolling lavender hills and provides breathtaking sunsets. It not only includes an aromatherapy Jacuzzi, but also a salt water pool, outdoor rain shower and outdoor claw foot bath tub.
