Spring break is almost here and that means time for some R&R. Instead of traveling this year, consider a staycation in the Bay Area. A staycation does not need to mean you’re going to stay home, rather, you’re going to take advantage of what’s available right in your own backyard. Check out these fantastic places to enjoy family time this spring break without going too far from home.

Hotel del Sol

This boutique hotel located in the San Francisco’s Marina District along Webster Street is a perfect spot for the entire family. If you have older children with you, consider adjoining rooms at the Hotel del Sol or even a guest suite for more room. The Hotel del Sol also offers kid VIP programs to keep them occupied and entertained. The entire family can always enjoy the sparkling saltwater pool. While you’re staying here visit the nearby Palace of Fine Arts. Whether it’s music, comedy or live theater, there’s always something going on here.

If you’re looking for a waterfront boutique hotel in San Francisco, Hotel Zephyr is it. Several unique amenities will have you wondering why you never considered a staycation before now. For starters, take advantage of an outdoor seating and social area complete with a fire pit, soft chairs, shuffleboard and high-top tables. Hotel Zephyr is also pet friendly. You can bring one pet up to 80 pounds to stay with you in your room. Just so you know, bringing along your four-legged friend will cost you an additional $75 for a cleaning fee.

Daily excursions are also an option here. Your best bet is to visit the concierge to book a guided tour. Although you may be familiar with the area, there are probably some hidden gems you didn’t know were available in the Bay Area. You can also check out local arenas to see what teams are in town if you want to catch a game.

Be sure to take the kids on the outdoor activities and then visit the Bay Area Discovery Museum, recognized as one of the best children’s museums in the country. The Cavallo Point Lodge is also dog-friendly. Be sure to mention whether you will have one or two dogs with you during your stay. Also, read through the lodge’s dog policies before making the reservation.
